I realize that everyone in Richmond is already well aware of Quirk Hotel, but bear with me here. A few weeks ago, they posted that they were starting a Sunday special called Feasting With Friends and I immediately made reservations, even before we knew who to invite with us. For $25/person on Sundays, they’ll change their menu monthly & you’ll get a large entree and four sides. Michael took me here for my birthday dinner last year and for the two of us, our bill was about $200, so I’d say this is an incredible deal. Sundays are also significantly quieter in the restaurant/bar area so it’s a great way to try the food without fighting crowds and/or large drunk parties making their way through the restaurant. What I’m saying is, it’s the best thing ever.
of course i’m a sucker for mini cast iron skillets
January’s menu is fried chicken, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, collard greens, and cornbread. Yeah, heart emojis for days. The fried chicken was probably some of the best I’ve ever had and if I could just eat that mac & cheese everyday, I would be fine with it.
now that i’ve officially taken a photo of everything consumed, i don’t have to take any more food pictures next time. you’re welcome, friends.
A couple of visits back, we started talking to one of the managers who took us on a private tour upstairs, and this time, he gave us a tour of one of the best rooms in the hotel, which may or may not have been the room Questlove checked out of just hours earlier. I went on his Instagram hoping he’d posted pictures of how cute the room is, but I guess he wasn’t as excited about the love & happiness pink walls like we were. To each their own.
Probably the first and last time I’ll be in the VIP suite, so…
It’s another one of those things that I kind of don’t want to talk about here because I like going there for dinner without awkwardly running into people from high school or previous jobs, but I also think I want to shout it from the rooftops because I just love it. I know everyone in Richmond is obsessed with Quirk in general, but I highly recommend spending more than $10 on a fancy drink and trying the restaurant. The food & the service really is some of the best we’ve had in Richmond & you just can’t beat it. And no, I’m not paid or sponsored by them by any means (can I be though?) but I truly do just love it. How can you not love a place that puts a painting of their UPS lady in the lobby?
But also, the mac and cheese. ❤️
