Sometimes the only way to fix your problems is with ice cream. Unless your problem is diabetes or something, but even then, find you some sugar-free ice cream and pretend its helping. I don’t know. For me, ice cream cures all. After a long, not so great week, I made the executive decision that we would have a Friday night ice cream date.
Charm School Social Club opened up only recently, and of course pictures on social media made me want to try it solely based on how damn adorable it looked and that they have vegan options for when I’m not in the mood to deal with how dairy makes me feel (Friday night wasn’t one of those nights).
Well, obviously the internet doesn’t lie and this place is perfection wrapped up in a tiny cute mint and pink bow, complete with records playing in the background and free sprinkles. Obviously with my obsession with cereal milk ice cream (we went on a late night mission for this at Momofuku in NYC), I got cereal milk and toast + jam. TOAST AND JAM! It was seriously my jam. Breakfast + ice cream are easily in my top two favorite foods, so clearly I was in heaven and Michael just sat there shaking his head at my ridiculousness. He got a cup of mint chocolate chip + coffee with toasted fluff, so his sounded good but obviously not as good as my breakfast cone.
The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful (I mean seriously, we wanted to try everything and they didn’t kill us) and I’m pretty sure it’s impossible to not love this place. I’m going to try my hardest not to go after dinner down the street tonight but also I might try to eat dinner fast enough so I can make here before they close. Part of me wishes that I could keep this place a little secret forever but obviously I also want this small business to succeed more than ever and never go away. Something tells me that this isn’t just a little Richmond fad, and they’ll be around forever (I hope!).
