Well, we started off the new year fighting colds around here, but today was our first snow of 2017 so we decided to suck it up and embrace it. Okay the truth is that my eye was basically almost swollen shut this morning so I had to sleep it off some more… then I embraced it. I couldn’t just stay in bed all day; it was Charlie’s first snow! He was a big fan. Like, attacking every snowflake and doing backflips to do so kind of fan.
Have you ever seen a more hilarious attempt at a group photo?
After a productive afternoon of cleaning out our guest room, what started as a trip to take the trash out, turned into a 3 mile trek in the snow to get coffee at Sugar + Twine (are you even surprised?) then stopping for dinner (and wine!) at Can Can on the walk back. Whoops, sorry dry-January. Santa brought me some fancy Hunter boots for Christmas but I am a brat and had to exchange them (which apparently takes ten years to do) so I’m thankful for my friend Shannon who gave me these (size-too-small) bean boots since they still do the trick while being pretty cute too. I realize that we got less than a foot of snow, but the roads aren’t exactly great so I’m not one for getting in a car when it’s not absolutely necessary. Walking is, by far, the best form of transportation in the snow! We also ran into my friend Kandis along the way which was a pleasant surprise since we usually talk every day, but my phone is on the fritz and I’ve had to resort to actual human interaction. 😉
snow day / date night
I have some thoughts on the start of a new year and end of the old, but I’ll save that for my chicken & waffles new year’s post, which will be delayed, just as all of my posts are. But yes, damn right I made mini chicken and waffles to welcome 2017 with the warmest welcome I knew how.
It was a perfectly spontaneous and snowy Saturday & here’s to one more free snow day bundled up inside. Stay safe, friends!
