After obsessing over my ridiculous dream to move to NY, I was so excited to give Michael this bourbon from a whiskey distillery in Brooklyn for Christmas. Hint, hint, nudge, nudge. But then, because he knows me so well, he got me this book that basically lists all of the go-to restaurants, markets, and shops in Brooklyn. Maybe he’s trying to tell ME something?
Just before Christmas, I started reading My Life in France by Julia Child, so it was fitting that the other books he got me for Christmas were cookbooks, the best kind of books!
I’ve been following Julia (and her wife!) on Instagram for a while now so I was excited to get her cookbook and I can’t wait to try some of these recipes. The meatballs! Friday night meatballs will be a thing in 2017 if its the last thing I do. And god, do I love food pictures. But while we’re on this topic, can someone please explain to me how its possible that so many people take so many bad photos of food? Ladies and gentlemen, this is not difficult. And if it is, it probably doesn’t deserve a photo anyway, amirite?
I now have the very magical recipe for Early Bird biscuits but please don’t hold your breath because although it might be at my fingertips, it also seems 100% out of my ability in the kitchen. So, if you want to make them for me… you can borrow the cookbook anytime.
Now, whenever it decides to get cold again in Virginia, I can’t wait to curl up with some tea, my new slippers, and read/look at pictures of food. Mmm, winter isn’t so bad.
