It definitely doesn’t feel like fall outside (it’s November and supposed to be 82 degrees tomorrow, what the?) but I took advantage of the short-lived cool days a few weeks ago to do some festive (read: basic) things. It wouldn’t be fall without all of the pumpkin things!
First up: Charlie goes to a pumpkin patch! We made him walk his farthest distance yet to a pre-picked pumpkin patch, which also happened to be his first (and probably last) visit to a church. Olive wasn’t feeling it, so she stayed home and napped. I feel ya, girl.
Next up: Pumpkin butter! I made this super easy pumpkin butter (in the microwave!) from my favorite local blogger, Brittany of eating bird food. I’ve never made pumpkin butter before but the thought of standing over a stove stirring for 30 minutes doesn’t really interest me, so this was perfect. It seriously takes less than 10 minutes, it makes your house smell AMAZING, and it makes for some pretty cute mini mason jar gifts. I gave them out to some coworkers for a little Monday pick-me-up and to be honest, they might still be in the work refrigerators but that’s okay too because they will keep for a few weeks.
Still on my list of pumpkin-themed things to do:
- make a healthy-ish pumpkin spice latte
- have a not-so-healthy-ish pumpkin dirty chai from blackhand coffee (literally the best chai i’ve ever had in my entire life so if you are in Richmond, please do yourself a favor and get one asap. I’ll take the almond milk version, please and thank you)
- make pumpkin bread. maybe add some chocolate chips? yea?
- eat pumpkin ravioli. i’m not really interested in making my own yet, but whole foods sells some pre-made and that works for me.
Do you have a favorite pumpkin recipe I need to try?
