To preface this post, I would like to say that I’m over summer. Over. It. I don’t know that I will understand people who absolutely love summer for all that it entails. This heat is not my friend, nor is it doing my hair any favors.
With that being said, last weekend’s trip for pie in the park was actually a plan that I had in the spring but we never got around to it and I’m the idiot who thought a 90 degree day in September was a good time for it. Now, less than a week later, the forecast for this weekend is in the 70s. Richmond weather is weird, but we survived regardless.
Proper Pie has been a favorite of mine ever since they opened a couple of years ago in Church Hill, but Michael had never been – aka he’s been living under a rock. Conveniently, one of my favorite spots in Richmond is just around the corner so I figured how cheesy and perfect would pie in the park be? Luckily, dreams do come true and Michael is pretty much okay with everything terrible that I have ever planned so we made it happen last Sunday. It was hot, I had crumbs all over my face and sweat dripping down my forehead, but the pie was delicious and the company was pretty great too!
If you live in Richmond and haven’t been to either of these places, I highly recommend them. Proper Pie is small but adorable inside and their banoffee pie could easily rank in my top 5 favorite things of all time. Hopefully we can recreate my super cheesy pie in the park date idea once it’s cooler outside because there is no better time of year than the fall.
Happy Friday everyone!
