There was obviously no shortage of food this weekend.
For Sunday dinner, we had a table full of pizza ingredients laid out & put together our own homemade pizzas. To say I was excited would be an understatement.
I went out on Saturday for the first time in weeks yet I was still awake at SIX THIRTY in the morning on Sunday. Why? I have no idea, but it gave me plenty of time to google pizza recipes and stare at all of these recipes for inspiration while the rest of the world slept.
By the time dinner rolled around, we settled on three different varieties: a white pizza with spinach and bacon, three cheese peach and prosciutto (because we still have fresh peaches from the orchard!) and a random layered meat + cheese pizza that Michael put together sans recipe.
A few things that I learned from this experience?
- store bought dough is always the way to go. Who has time to make their own dough? This is nearly impossible.
- putting a ton of meat and cheese on a pizza stone will likely catch the house on fire when the grease drips down to the bottom of the oven
- I love asiago cheese. Like, love love. Like, the truest of love. How ever I never tried this before?!
I was a little worried about how the peach and prosciutto pizza would turn out because I was mostly excited about how pretty it was that I was a little worried that maybe I don’t even like prosciutto as much as I once did. As it turns out, the honey balsamic & sliced peaches was a pretty magical combination.
What other homemade pizzas should we be trying?!
