Is it Thursday already?! I’ve been trucking along at work since I’m taking a much-needed personal day tomorrow for my sanity and now I realize that almost the entire week has passed me by. I might not be going to Charleston anymore this weekend, but I’m still excited about the fun things I’ve got planned here at home.
Last weekend went by way too fast (how does that always happen?!) and we had a slight change of plans from picking peaches. We may not have made the trek to Charlottesville, but we had a delicious dinner at The Hill Cafe on Friday with some friends (home of the most amazing fried chicken you ever did see. You’re welcome), and walked around for hours on end on Saturday for a mini-shopping spree (for one of us, at least).
And because Sundays are for family + brunch (and some other things… such as the typical snapchat selfie), I woke up early to make a big breakfast while the rest of the world slept, and then we were off to my brother’s house for some baby time and for… wait for it… Michael to meet my mom for the very first time. Scary. It’s not that my 4’11” asian mom is scary by any stretch of the imagination, but she is definitely hard to read, hard to verbally understand, and often, impossible to please. Luckily for all of us, she was surrounded by her granddaughter and some good news, and the two of them meeting went as smoothly as it possibly could’ve.
We ended our weekend with yet another delicious (whole30 approved!!) dinner at Michael’s moms, which I sadly didn’t even get a good photo of. They all had a stir fry with amazing homemade yum-yum sauce, and I had the sautéed meats and veggies. No. complaints. here.
J. Crew gingham shirt. No, this doesn’t happen to anybody else? Today we are both wearing yellow, so maybe we just think more alike than I thought. This week, I’ve discovered that I physically and mentally cannot survive a day without caffeine. Monday was a drag because of lack of coffee, so a quick Starbucks trip at 7pm for the new cold brew was my attempt at salvaging part of my night and killing my headache. Unfortunately, this was a failed attempt, but I did luck out by stumbling across one of the new Day Designer planners. Oh do I love some good stripes.
Time to wrap up the workweek and get ready for peaches, a little bit of work, and a whole lot of sun.
